Grandma told she was ‘too old’ for a dog gets the sweetest surprise from her granddaughter

Andrea Hijar’s Grandma is 76, and her husband is even older.

They have kept dogs all their lives. But after the last dog, she could not decide to get a new pet for a long time.

When she finally decided to open her heart to a new furry companion, the woman suddenly found it impossible.

One by one, the shelters that Andrea’s Grandma applied to refused her – they explained that she was too old, that she would not be able to properly care for a young dog; it was said that the dog could outlive her.

“It upset me. They are a very loving couple, but they were denied something they were very excited about,” the granddaughter recalls.

Grandma was devastated. She tried to come to terms with the fact that she would never have a dog again in her life.

But Andrea continued to search – and it’s good that she didn’t give up, because her search was finally crowned with results.

She found a puppy!

Scrolling through the social media feed, Andrea came across a post from a man who had a puppy in need of a loving home.

When the owner of the baby found out how an elderly couple dreams of a puppy, he agreed immediately.

Andrea’s Grandpa and her dad went to get a new family member.

They decided to name the puppy Princess, and Princess went to a new home.

The old woman rejoiced like a child. Grandmother stroked Princess, and the pup pressed her tiny muzzle against her chest, full of tenderness.

She seems to have found her human too.

“I was very touched by her reaction,” Hijar said. “It was very emotional to see her so happy and full of joy.”

Although some thought that age would prevent Andrea’s grandparents from becoming ideal parents for a puppy, it seems to her that Princess could not find a more loving family.

And while older people may need more help in the future, age alone shouldn’t be a reason for rejection, she said. Now, Princess is not just a dog of grandparents, she is a member of the family.
