A little dog with a bald body is unknown how long she wandered through the noisy streets of Austin, Texas, before reaching good people. «Now she finally demands that she be stroked, not shrinking with fear into a lump,» say her new owners.
The dog, nicknamed Astro, was taken to the Austin Pets Alive shelter. She looked strange — bald, with white hair on her head and a heavily bloated stomach. In addition, there was some infection on her skin, and the claws on her paws grew a lot and caused pain and inconvenience to the dog.
In addition, it turned out that Astro is already an old dog, he is at least 12 years old. Not surprisingly, no one wanted to take Astro to their home and his future was gloomy and uncertain. Most likely, he would have been put to sleep, but then the dog was very lucky, as there were two people who decided to take care of Astro.
Katie Kalk and her husband found out about Astro by accident, they felt very sorry for him and they decided to give the dog another chance.
«When I took Astro in my arms, he immediately licked me in the face and I realized that I had to take him to my house,» says Katie.
When Astro found himself in the house of Katie and her husband, he was very intimidated, affected by his life on the streets and possible abuses by people. He was afraid of everything — loud sounds, open spaces, sudden movements. At the slightest alarm, he ran into his carrier, in which he was brought from the shelter and hid there, shrinking into a lump.
Astro thawed very slowly and Katie had doubts that all their efforts might be in vain. But then Hurricane Harvey came. Because of this hurricane, Austin’s shelter was overcrowded and Katie could not go there and return Astro, she was asked to wait.
This case again turned out to be a good luck for the dog, as the longer Astro stayed at Katie and her husband’s house, the more people fell in love with the dog. Soon there was no question of returning him and the spouses decided to leave the dog for all and thoroughly treat it.
