A green puppy was born on St. Patrick’s day!
German shepherd was running as a stray in Georgia without supervision, so her translocation to a specialized shelter was an emergency.
Not only street life was dangerous, but Reba was also pregnant. She would give birth to a litter of puppies in only a few days.
Luckily, Heidiβs Legacy Dog Rescue, found Reba in time and transferred her to a foster home in Clearwater, Florida.
βShe was picked up running as a stray in Georgia,β Kristy Anderson, a foster with Heidiβs Legacy, said Β βThis was around the same time we took in some shepherds from the large breeder bust there so she could have been an escapee. We arenβt certain though.β
Anderson, who chose to foster Reba, was clear that she wouldnβt be able to predict exactly how many dogs would be living in her home in a few days.
βShe was Β pregnant and would give birth in just two days.β she added.
In three days Reba gave birth to six adorable puppies with one of them standing out from others.
Green-furred, extremely uncommon puppy cuddled up next to the others at Rebaβs tummy to breastfeed. Anderson named her Clover because she believed it suited her.
Β
Despite being highly rare, the green color of puppies is not unheard of. According to popular belief, the amniotic fluid in the mother dogβs womb Β is what causes the color.
Anderson took the green puppy as a sign of good luck and βan early St. Patrickβs Day giftβ as she put it.
Cloverβs special color faded after five days revealing a healthy puppy.
