This young princess is sweet, vivacious, and strong. She is amazing beyond belief! It’s amazing that someone so young could learn all of that choreography. Her song is “My Boy Lollipop.”
Midway through the 1950s, Robert Spencer of the doo-wop group The Cadillacs wrote the song “My Boy Lollipop” (formerly “My Girl Lollypop”), which is typically credited to Spencer, Morris Levy, and Johnny Roberts.
It was first recorded in 1956 by Barbie Gaye in New York. The Jamaican adolescent Millie Small later recorded a song with a very similar rhythm, and it became one of the most popular ska tunes of all time. “My Girl Lollypop,” an original song by The Cadillacs doo-wop group member Robert Spencer, was written.
Morris Levy, a well-known record company executive, agreed to buy the song from Spencer. Despite not being involved in the song’s creation, Levy and alleged gangster Johnny Roberts listed themselves as the song’s authors.
Levy removed Spencer’s name from the original writing credits in order to avoid sharing any royalties with Spencer. Levy even claimed that his pen name was Robert Spencer.
