Pip Langhorne, a 20-year-old working in a bar, brought an unusual partner to the Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) stage: her five-month-old puppy, Buddy. Pip explained that she had always wanted a solo career but felt Buddy’s unique talent needed to be showcased. The pair had only been together for five months and had never performed in front of an audience before. Pip had submitted their video after learning that BGT was accepting auditions via YouTube, making this their first public performance and a test of Buddy’s composure.
For their audition, Pip began singing the song “I Can Make It” (from Fame), and Buddy initially sat calmly beside her. However, in a completely unexpected moment that shocked both the audience and the judges, Buddy began to sing along. The puppy tilted his head back and joined in with a dramatic, howl-like vocal accompaniment that perfectly matched the pitch of the music. The moment the “singing dog” burst into song, the audience erupted in cheers and laughter, realizing they were witnessing a truly unique and hilarious act.
The judges were thoroughly entertained and surprised by Buddy’s impromptu performance. Michael McIntyre admitted he “never knew what to expect,” but called the moment Buddy started singing “very surprising.” When asked what kind of music Buddy preferred, Pip revealed he generally favored classical and opera—explaining his dramatic vocal style. Pip and Buddy received a standing ovation and easily earned a three “yeses” from the judges, with Michael concluding that the opportunity to audition through YouTube was “worth it for moments like that.”
